"I Loved Bringing Out Jasper's Dark Side In Eclipse"
Twilight fans have come to know that book-to-screen adaptations can sometimes leave little nuanced details by the wayside.
Of course, no one would contend that Jasper Hale's backstory setting in Eclipse is but a small event, but exactly how it'll be presented on-screen in The Twilight Saga; Eclipse remains to be seen.
The first, and perhaps most obvious, clue that the film would include a visual depiction of those events was the casting list.
Kirsten Prout and Catalina Sandino Moreno were chosen to portray the characters Lucy and Maria, two whose decision to transform and keep Jasper as a personal soldier leads him to not only become a vampire, but to become one who deigns to battle newborns and later resent his way of life (or undeath).
Adding to that information is a recent interview with the New York Post in which Jackson Rathbone revealed a few important details about how his character's backstory would play out in the film.
We do a little segue/backstory in "Eclipse", when he was turned during the Civil War. We get to see his more aggressive tendencies. When you’re first turned into a vampire, that’s when you’re at your most ravenous, most vicious – so you see Jasper go through that. It was a lot of fun to bring out the darker side of Jasper that he’s been holding back.

It is geting so close!!!!! Pretty soon we will be seeing these on the BIG SCREEN!! *SQUEEE*
MTV chatted with Jackson about New Moon and his character, Jasper Hale. Below are 2 of my favorite excerpts from the interview:
MTV: Out of the new characters joining the franchise for "New Moon," which is your favorite?
Jackson Rathbone: My favorite character in "New Moon" that wasn't in "Twilight"? I guess my favorite character in "New Moon" is a collective — the Volturi. It's one of those things that's really nice to see, these decadent older vampires that run this vampire society, if you will. I think they're an amazing group of actors that we were able to get for the film, and they are very scary and intimidating. They're all perfect — I mean,
Dakota Fanning is a terrifying Jane; absolutely terrifying.
MTV: There is so much "Twilight" merch out there now. Do you own any in real life?
Rathbone: Any "Twilight" merchandise in real life? I've not [purchased any]. However, my bandmate Ben Graupner bought a Jasper pillowcase with my face on it. I had to ritualistically burn it, because it was scaring me.
MTV talked to Jackson Rathbone about New Moon and his role as Jasper:
"I only shot for three weeks, and out of those three weeks that I was [in Vancouver] I think I actually filmed four days," Jackson said. "So, I mean, I'm not so much in 'New Moon.' "
Since Robert Pattinson's Edward Cullen departs early in the book, he is largely absent, and the rest of the Cullens aren't seen until the end of the story either.
"It's one of those things where we want to follow as closely to the books as possible," Rathbone said. "In 'New Moon,' you don't see that much of the Cullens. You really don't. So there's not too much of us in there."
Rathbone said he will only be in two scenes in the film. The first, as seen in the original trailer, involves him attacking Bella at her birthday party when she gets a paper cut. The second, he said, centers on a family vote to decide whether Bella gets turned into a vampire or not.
Malicious Mandy reports Jacksper may have been injured during a stunt scene:
Fans there today reported seeing Jackson waving from a van and umbrella's blocking vehicles. None reported seeing him injured but I believe the reason Jackson was seen coming and going from the set today was because he had to actually leave set briefly due to injury...From what I heard that set was filming some stunt and action shots involving Jackson Rathbone & Ashley Greene... as a follow up to yesterday.Read more at Malicious Mandy's Blog.

Ashley & Jackson were spotted on the Eclipse set yesterday! Have to say, Jackson is looking FINE and looks like Ash is in her Alice makeup! No wardrobe though :(
