Eclipse broke the opening night record previously held by New Moon according to Gossip Cop:
"It was a total Eclipse from the start.
The blockbuster third installment of The Twilight Saga opened to a staggering $30 million on its first night/morning in North America.
It surpasses the previous midnight record holder, which was New Moon at $26.3 million.
The last film in the series, New Moon, earned $72.7 million on November 20, 2009 to set the all-time opening day record.

Taylor Lautner Talks About Rob & the Spit That Flew on the Set!
The real danger on the set of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse didn’t involve vampires or werewolves. It was all the flying saliva.
“We’re always like an inch away from each other’s faces, screaming at each other, spitting at each other in the face. It gets a little awkward,” Taylor Lautner told PEOPLE of costar Robert Pattinson at Monday’s Cinema Society and Piaget-hosted screening of their latest Twilight film in New York.
Did Pattinson have to duck any major projectiles? “Not anything super dramatic,” Lautner says, “but I’m sure he caught a couple splats.”
Shouting at each other doesn’t come naturally for two guys who don’t, in real life, despise each other. And so, the scenes often veer into laughter. “Rob and I ruin a lot of takes,” Lautner admits. “It’s hard to keep a straight face, because we actually like each other. So, it’s pretty funny.”
With Pattinson filming Water for Elephants, Lautner, 18, was joined at the screening by costar Kristen Stewart, 20. Both actors said they’ve been enjoying some relatively quiet time recently.
Lautner said he’s been following the World Cup – “I was rooting for the U.S., and that was a bummer,” he says – while Stewart has been indulging her passion for music and cooking. “I’m fairly obsessed with [indie rocker] Jenny Lewis right now,” she admits. “I’m in a state of grief because I’m missing her show in L.A.”
But the cooking is going well – and it sounds like Stewart is being resourceful. “I like making pies,” she says. “I have a bunch of fruit trees in my backyard. My loquat tree sprouted, and I like making loquat pie. They’re really hard to peel and everything, and it took me forever, but they make the best pies. They’re amazing.”

Xavier Samuel Interview: He Makes Me LOL!
Watching Riley and the army of newborn vampires ascend, unblinking, from the water as they prepare to battle the Cullens is one of the most chilling scenes from the "Eclipse" trailers. Actor Xavier Samuel, who plays Riley, said he took his inspiration for the now-iconic scene from an unlikely source.
"Well, I'm lucky it was kind of covered the first night at drama school," he joked to MTV News at the "Eclipse" black carpet premiere last night. "Let me say a large source of inspiration for that scene was Denise Richards in 'Wild Things.'"

David Slade Talks About Eclipse Tent Scene
It wasn't a big surprise last night at the "Eclipse" premiere that the stars of "The Twilight Saga" said almost unanimously that the tent scene was the moment in the film they were most looking forward to.
We already knew that it was that scene that sent the cast back to do last minute reshoots, and that Robert Pattinson liked the original version better, but director David Slade set the record straight that the two versions weren't very different after all.
"It was all the same dialogue. It was more of a pickup shoot, really," he said. "We actually inter-cut between the first shoot of that scene and the later one, and really it was just one of those things where in the schedule, we needed two days to shoot it, and we had one. So, I was really relieved to go back and just pick some stuff up. I think the only difference really was Taylor actually holds [Kristen] to his chest more, and Rob's better than he was [laughs]."
Rob had said that he hoped the original cut of the tent scene would make it to the DVD as an extra, but David said that probably wouldn't happen.
"The initial cut is in the film up to a certain point, then we cut back and forth between them, and Rob wouldn't know because we color-timed them all to look exactly like the same scene," he said.
AHHHHHHH I can't wait to see you beloved tent scene.....

Melissa Rosenberg Promises More Skin in Breaking Dawn!
Twilight films have been fairly tame when it comes to sex. But it sounds like Breaking Dawn will stay true to Stephenie Meyer's book, with especially racy scenes between leading lovers Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
"You will see sex – Yes!" Breaking Dawn and Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg told PEOPLE at the Eclipse premiere in L.A. Thursday night. "The relationship [between Pattinson's Edward and Stewart's Bella] does go all the way in the book, so in the movie, it will as well. You are going to see more skin in Breaking Dawn than you did in the other films."
But don't expect any XXX antics. "Will it be pornographic? – That, I do not know," Rosenberg said with a laugh. "I don't know if it has to be R-rated, but it has to be what the book is, which means more skin. ... I will definitely be writing more skin."

Eclipse Interview Teaser From EW
Entertainment Weekly sat down with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner for a feature interview running in this week’s magazine to discuss the world they inhabit within the Twilight universe — both on screen and off. The three young stars opened up about coping under the glare of intense media spotlight, how they rely on one another to pull through, what they think of the upcoming final movie, Breaking Dawn, what lies ahead once the franchise wraps, and much more. In this preview, the three stars talk about gearing up for the final chapter of the saga that has changed each of their lives forever.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You guys are about to start shooting the two Breaking Dawn movies back to back. You signed on to this franchise before Breaking Dawn was written. When you read it, were you thinking, How is this going to be turned into a movie?
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You guys are about to start shooting the two Breaking Dawn movies back to back. You signed on to this franchise before Breaking Dawn was written. When you read it, were you thinking, How is this going to be turned into a movie?
KRISTEN STEWART: Yeah, definitely. What is Renesmee going to look like? Is it going to be this little teeth-baby running around? It’s going to be weird.
ROBERT PATTINSON: [Laughs] “Little teeth-baby.”
STEWART: Yeah, but I think it’s going to be cool. One of the main objectives of the series is to get Bella to a point where she’s mature enough to make such a hefty decision, and she goes through a lot. In the fourth one, she is going to become a wife. She is going to become a mom. She is going to become an adult and a vampire. To do it so young, it needs to be believable. So I’m really excited about playing that.
Some people read Breaking Dawn as very pro-life and Mormon because Bella decides to have her baby even though it’s endangering her life. Did any of that bother you when you read the book?

Some people read Breaking Dawn as very pro-life and Mormon because Bella decides to have her baby even though it’s endangering her life. Did any of that bother you when you read the book?
STEWART: No, because it made sense. Not wanting to give up the baby is about her holding onto that last thing that she would have to give up if she was not human anymore. Right after she and Edward sleep with each other for the first time, she says, “Oh, f***, I might want to be human for a little bit longer.” The baby is just an even more intense version of that.
PATTINSON: I think people make up all these Mormon references just so they can publish Twilight articles in respectable publications like the New York Times. Even Stephenie [Meyer, author of the Twilight novels] said it doesn’t mean any of that. It is based on a dream.
The Breaking Dawn movies are the last in the series. How do you feel about all of this coming to a conclusion soon?

STEWART: In terms of shooting them, they’re almost done. We’re going to be done by March.
TAYLOR LAUTNER: It will be so weird, the last day of filming that last movie.
STEWART: It will be sad, too. It’s been one of the most crazy, indulgent experiences as an actor, to be able to follow a character for this long.
LAUTNER: I think stopping will be very weird.
STEWART: It will just feel like a chapter has been closed.
LAUTNER: A big chapter.
STEWART: I’m going to be like, “But wait, there’s this scene…”

Eclipse Werewolves Say They are "More Interesting Than the Vampires"
Parade.com has a great interview with Eclipse Wolves Alex Meraz, Chaske Spencer and Julia Jones:
They told Parade.com's Jeanne Wolf why they supported their fierce leader, played by Taylor Lautner, while wishing he'd just forget about his passion for Bella.
Advice to guys suffering for love.
Julia Jones: "I guess if I had a friend like Jacob who was risking his life for a girl who was hooked on someone else, I'd probably advise him to back off. I think you can be in love with more than one person at a time, but I think only one of them can matter. You should love in the way that love can come to mean something. I think you can only have that kind of meaning with one person and that's where Bella is going. She's Edward's girl."
Holding her own as a lady werewolf.
Julia: "I was a tomboy growing up, so the action stuff felt really familiar. I have a younger brother who's about the same age as Chaske and Alex, so there was something that resonated about keeping up with them. I really loved the way my Leah wolf character looked. I was like, 'Oh my gosh. She's so cute, even though she's fierce.' She's like smaller and little bit more fragile, but she could do some damage."
Werewolves are more fun.
Chaske Spencer: "We're a little more interesting than the vampires. They have to have that serious demeanor and we can be a little looser on the set. There were moments when we definitely brought out the goofy side of Kristen Stewart every now and then."
For instance...
Alex Meraz: "In New Moon we had to run around in shorts, but because it was freezing we'd bundle up in these robes between takes. We were always joking around and pretending like we really had nothing on underneath. So I'd jump in front of Kristen and fling open my robe like I was flashing her and she was like, 'Oh God, no.'"
Why is that werewolf smiling?
Alex: "In the big battle in Eclipse, we were running in the rain in what seemed like a foot of water. My background is dancing and I feel like I'm really good on my feet. I told the rest of the cast, 'All right, you guys. It's slippery out there. Don't put any weight on your heels. Go on the balls of your feet and you'll get more traction.' So everyone else did great, but, of course, I slipped and fell. I had mud all over me. That was the take they used. If you look at me, I have a smirk on my face because they used the moment after I slipped and I was trying not to laugh."
Trying to deal with overnight fame.
Julia: "I was terrified. Sometimes, I still am. What surprised me is how grounded Taylor and Kristen are. They were the first two people I met and they were so nice and down to earth. We'd show up to work really caring and wanting to do the best we could. I feel like that bonded us and it also took away the fear."
Chaske: "No one really gives you a book on how to be a celebrity when you suddenly have fans everywhere. But there are ways to keep your life private. There are ways to conduct yourself and do good work. In the end, we're just actors. But we're very lucky actors. We tease each other a lot to keep us humble. If the ego gets too big, we cut each other down."
