My Twilife's Exclusive Interview With York Baur of "Twilight in Forks"

I had the privilege of talking to York Baur, the producer of 'Twilight in Forks - The Saga of the Real Town' about their documentary and his obvious love for the town of Forks:

My Twilife: So, first question, did you read the books?

York Bauer: I did read the first book, Twilight, and I guess you could say I am savoring the rest. It was my wife who first got me interested in the series and let me know that there might be something there for a project.

My Twilife: If you know anything about the Twilight blogging community, we sort of pride ourselves in knowing all things Twilight, how did you keep the project a secret until now?

York: [laughs] We didn't go out of our way to keep it secret, we didn't blow into town under a cloud of darkness or anything. We have a longstanding relationship with Forks and are known in the area, so everyone was very cooperative and willing to help and excited about the project.

My Twilife: What kinds of things can we expect to learn from the film that we don't already know?

York: We really go into the history of Forks, how it has grown and struggled and how it has developed into what it is now. We also give insight into the characters Stephenie developed. We will show you little things like how Stephenie interacted with the people of Forks.

My Twilife: In your interview with MTV you talk about how Stephenie stated that she had never been to Forks before writing Twilight & that you will touch on that in the movie, can you tell me a little more about that?

York: We do touch on that in the movie, most people know that Stephenie did a lot of Internet research on Forks and the area, but she also asked town people questions so they were sort of being interviewed and didn't even know it. We touch on how accurately Stephenie depicted the area. I don't want to give too much away though!

My Twilife: Does Stephenie know about your film? Did you interact with her or any of the cast and crew from the Twilight Saga movies?

York: You probably know that Stephenie is taking a year off, so we wanted to respect her privacy. And no, we based the film on real interactions with the town folks.

My Twilife: Is there anything else you want to share or would like my readers to know about 'Twilight in Forks?'

York: Just that we are very excited about the unique set of circumstances surrounding the town, and we want to show the reality tied to the fantasy Stephenie created in Forks. We really go into more depth about the Quileute legends and culture, as you would expect they have such a rich and deep culture there. Forks is a very special area, so remote and close to nature, and we want to show that and how it interweaves with the Tribe.

I would like to thank York for taking the time to talk with me, I look forward to seeing the finished product! In the mean time, here is the first official trailer. Which, I told him leaves me wanting more, to which he replied: " That's the idea!"

Great interview! I haven't bothered clicking on any of the blog reports about this documentary so this is the first time I've read about it in more detail. It does look like I'd end up watching it!
